Mr. Thomas Gilmer Bateman, Sr., age 77, of Wrightsville, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Washington County Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 1 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Chad Waller will officiate.
Mr. Bateman was a native of North Carolina, the son of the late Walter Gilmer Bateman and the late Mary Ruth Goodwin Bateman. He was the husband of the late Linda Kay Page Bateman. Mr. Bateman was a former owner of a theater in Swainsboro and owned Movies To Go in Wrightsville, Tennille and Louisville. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Louisville and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, former Sunday school director and choir director. Mr. Bateman was a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors are his children, Renee Suzette Bateman Brown and her husband Casey of Woodstock, Thomas Gilmer “Little Tommy” Bateman of Wrightsville, Bradley Page Bateman and his wife Kasey of Queensbury, NY and Adam Brian Bateman and his wife Tiffany of Brookline, NH; grandchildren, Paul Brown, Katie Brown, Marin Bateman, Liam Bateman, Marshall Bateman, Lyla Bateman, Ellison Page Bateman and Addilyn Grace Bateman; and siblings, Walter C. Bateman of Salt Lake City, Utah, Velma D. Beaman of Atlanta, GA, and Eva B. Crizer and her husband Gary of Roanoke, VA
The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at May & Smith Funeral Directors.
