Mr. Thomas Jefferson Brett III, "Tommy", age 71, of Tennille died on Thursday morning, February 25, 2016, in an Augusta hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday February 28 in the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Tennille with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Lamar Brantley and Reverend Wallace Smith will officiate.
Mr. Brett was born in Greensboro, NC, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Brett, Jr. and the late Lillian Banks Brett. He had lived in Washington County for many years and was a proud graduate of the Washington County High School class of 1962. Mr. Brett was a master general agent for Globe Life Insurance Company with over forty years of service. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Twin City Country Club and the Johnson County Country Club. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Sandersville. Mr. Brett was an Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict.
Survivors are: his wife of 38 years, Claire Boyd Brett of Tennille; two daughters, Ashley Brett McCoy and her husband Joshua of Harrison, and Benita Brett Jones of Augusta; two sons, Tyler Boyd Brett and his wife Taylor of Tennille, and Thomas Jefferson Brett IV of North Dakota; eight grandchildren, Morgan Brett, Hunter Beck, Liam Beck, Sylas Brett, Jocelyn Williams, Alex Lindsey, Trent Brett and Dana Carter; a sister, Saralyn Brett Davis of Cornelia; a brother, David Brett; and cousins, Paula Trussell McCroskey of California and Luann Trussell Rhodes of Tennille.
The family will be at the Brett residence, 287 West Adams Street in Tennille, and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
