Thomas Stevens Gladin

Thomas Stevens Gladin, age 77, of Talking Rock, GA, passed away on October 2, 2022. Tom was born June 30, 1945, in Sandersville, GA, to his parents Giles S. and Bernice McAfee Gladin. He graduated from Washington County High School and earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Georgia. Tom honorably served as a Captain in the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he worked for Tenneco Oil Company and Avon Products. In 1986, Tom became a McDonald’s Owner/Operator in Ellijay, GA. Over the next 32 years, his organization grew to include locations in Blue Ridge, Jasper, and Canton, until his retirement in 2017.

Tom was a strong Christian principled man, who loved and cherished his family and was especially proud of each of his three grandchildren. He was kind and took care of all those he loved and quietly helped those in need. Tom enjoyed fishing, watching the Georgia Bulldogs play on Saturdays, and driving his Porsche.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Glynn Gladin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gay Marshall Gladin of Talking Rock, GA, his two daughters, Anna Gladin Pilla and husband Leo of Jasper, GA, and Amanda Gladin Ferguson and husband Michael of Clermont, FL, grandchildren Justin Pilla of Viera, FL, Lucas Pilla of Bentonville, AR, and Natalie Ferguson of Clermont, FL, brother Ron Gladin and wife Linda of Sandersville, GA, sister-in-law Joanne Marshall of Macon, GA, nephews Will Marshall of Lakeland, FL, Matthew Marshall of Macon, GA, Mac Marshall of Macon, Ga, and Joseph Rhodes of Hartsville, SC, great friend of 35 years Steve Olsen of Jasper, GA, and his devoted dog Lulu.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Logan Funeral Home in Ellijay, GA. The memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2 pm at the Logan Funeral Home in Ellijay, GA, with Rev. Michael Ferguson. A private burial will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Michael J.
