Judge Thomas Aaron Hutcheson, Sr., age 84, of 615 Evergreen Drive in Sandersville died Tuesday morning October 13 following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday October 15 in the First Christian Church of Sandersville. The Rev. Dale Andrews will officiate with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Pallbearers will be James Aaron Willis, Hodges Truman Willis, Thomas Aaron Hutcheson III, Ethan Wayne Hutcheson, Allen Hodges, Bill Hodges, Robert Edward Willis, Van Kinnett and Kenny Renken.

Judge Hutcheson was a native of Johnson County, the son of the late Remus Grady Hutcheson and the late Clio Belle Bray Hutcheson. He was predeceased by his wife, Patsy Hodges Hutcheson and three brothers, Bray Hutcheson, Henry Grady Hutcheson and Harry Hutcheson. Judge Hutcheson graduated from North Georgia College and was a graduate of the University of Georgia Law School. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was elected Solicitor General State Court of Washington County and began serving January 1, 1957 and was appointed State Court Judge of Washington County in 1974 and served until December 31, 2000 when he retired from the Bench. In private practice he served as Sandersville City Attorney and represented the Washington County Board of Education, the Washington County Hospital Authority, the Washington County Development Authority and many other public entities. For 60 years he was a Senior Partner in Hutcheson and Wynne, P.C.. He was one of the founders of the First Federal Savings and Loan of Sandersville and was involved in the beginning of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, serving as both president and on the board of directors. He was a member of the American Legion, and a 50 year member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58 F&AM. He was a strong supporter of the Washington County Community Concert Association and the Washington County Historical Society. Thomas Hutcheson has been an integral part of the First Christian Church of Sandersville where he served as moderator of the church board, and also held the position as a church Elder. He was named the Rotary Citizen of the Year in 2000. He was a 60 year member and former president of the Sandersville Lions Club. In 2004 he was named a Melvin Jones Fellow and in 2008 he was named Lion of the Year. Judge Hutcheson was an avid supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret Hall Hutcheson of Sandersville, a daughter, Patricia Hutcheson Willis of Stone Mountain, a son, Thomas Aaron Hutcheson, Jr. of Tennille, seven grandchildren, Patricia Willis Tyler, James Aaron Willis, Rebecca Belle Willis, Hodges Truman Willis, Laura Elizabeth Willis, Thomas Aaron Hutcheson III and Ethan Wayne Hutcheson, a sister, Luella Neal of San Diego, California, and an uncle, Jack Hutcheson of Macon.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 615 Evergreen Drive in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
