Thomas Norman Mingledorff

January 28, 1933 — April 24, 2012

Mr. Thomas Norman Mingledorff, age 79, of 319 Burdett Street in Tennille died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in an Augusta hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 27th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. Rev. Jeff Cook and Rev. Gary Mimbs will officiate with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Pallbearers will be Brian Rountree, Scott Knight, Cory Edwards, Jason Lindsey, Stuart Turner and Stacy Kitchens.

Mr. Mingledorff was a native of Effingham County, Georgia, the son of the late Ralph Norman Mingledorff and the late Alice Mercer Mingledorff. He was the husband of the late Cora Louise Morton Mingledorff. Mr. Mingledorff was a retired freight auditor for the Sandersville Railroad. He was a member of the Tennille United Methodist Church, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over thirty seven years and a former member of the Civitan Club.

Survivors are his daughters; Susie Mingledorff Rountree and her husband Tommy of Tennille, Donna Mingledorff and her husband Greg Edwards of Tennille and Mary Malphus Knight and her husband Jerry of Tennille; three sons, Alton Malphus, Ronnie Malphus and William Malphus all of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lamb of Tillman, SC; two brothers, Carl Mingledorff of Clyo and Willie Mingledorff of Rincon; and a caregiver, Grace Jordan of Tennille.

The Mingledorff family would like to thank Dr. Bridgett Bailey and her staff for their kind and compassionate care of Tom.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.
