Thomas Wade Rachels

Mr. Thomas Wade "Tommy" Rachels, age 76, of Burdett Street in Tennille passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023.  A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 ^th at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Zeta Cemetery.  Reverend Mark Jones and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.

Tommy was born and reared in Tennille, the son of the late Ernest James Rachels Sr. and the late Mary Fields Rachels.  He graduated from Washington County High School and was later trained as a barber, a skill he utilized most of his life.  He began his working career while in high school at Millers Foods store. Following being a full-time barber, Tommy worked for Georgia Natural Gas Company and later he worked for Washington EMC from which he would retire as warehouse manager.  Due to health reasons, Tommy became an avid and dedicated walker.  He also loved to collect antiques.  In addition to his parents, Tommy is predeceased by siblings, Juanita R. Criswell and Ernie Rachels Jr.

Survivors include his siblings, Sonny Rachels and his wife Connie and Edna R. Frame all of Sandersville and several nieces and nephews.
