Mr. Thurston Melvin Veal, age 92, of Tennille, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Tennille Retirement Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Nazarene with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverends Danny Thomas, Lamar Brantley and Gary Mimbs will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Veal, Shaun Veal, Trey Veal, Coy Wilcher, Ryan McKee, Vernon Bridges and Jeff Veal.
Mr. Veal was born in Johnson County the son of the late John Veal and the late Frances Price Veal. He was a retired equipment operator for Kentucky Tennessee Clay Company and he was a member of the Good Sheppard Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Veal was an Army Veteran and a WWII P.O.W. He is predeceased by his wife, Stella Tolbert Veal; and his son, Edward Veal.
Survivors are his children, Frances Veal Page and Jerry Veal and his wife Martha all of Tennille, and Larry Veal and his wife Sherry of Warthen; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family may be contacted at the home of Frances Page on Hwy. 15 South of Tennille; and they will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
