Tom Brett

Mr. Tom Brett, age 75, of Sandersville passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his daughter’s residence in Milledgeville. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 1:00p.m. at Sandersville First Baptist Church, with Reverend Lee Lacy officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. Brett was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of the late Mills Thomas Brett and the late Mary Lucy Burgess Brett. He spent his working career in education, serving Washington County for over 30 years as teacher and assistant principal at T.J. Elder Middle School. After his retirement Mr. Brett continued to serve his county as Washington County Registrar. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in the yards and traveling with Betty, his wife of 48 years. Mr. Brett was a member of Sandersville First Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hendricks Brett.

Mr. Brett is survived by his daughter Lynn Brown Henderson and her husband Keith of Milledgeville; granddaughter, Heather Satterwhite and her husband David of Rincon; great-grandsons, Braxton Satterwhite, Jonah Satterwhite, and Liam Satterwhite; sister, Alda Barrick and her husband Glenn of Portsmouth, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Martha Hendricks of Sandersville; niece, Berry Rogers; and nephew, Craig Hendricks.
