Venie Widener Davis

Mrs. Venie Widener Davis, age 83, of 441 Riddleville Road in Sandersville died Monday morning, August 22, 2011 in an Augusta hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 24th, in the First Church of the Nazarene in Sandersville. Rev. Danny Thomas and Rev. Gary Mimbs will officiate with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Widener, Barry Barwick, Rudy Cushman, Ron Darnell, Ray Sanders and Justin Strickland. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Davis’ Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Davis was a native of Aiken South Carolina, the daughter of the late Willie Widener and the late Bertha Key Widener. She had resided in Sandersville for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors are her husband, Walter H. Davis of Sandersville, a daughter, Annette Davis Kennedy and her husband Derek of Tennille, a son, Fred Davis and his wife Bobbie of Sandersville, grandchildren, Devin Price and his wife Lisa, Tiffany Pearson and her husband Andrew, Jessica Amerson and her husband Alan, Brad Davis, Ashley Cable and her husband Paul, and Brandon Kennedy, great grandchildren, Kylee Kennedy, Alissa Amerson, Graeme Cable , Carson Price and Eleaner Cable, two sisters, Betty Barwick of Windsor, South Carolina and Bertha Mae Darnell of South Carolina.

The family will be at the Davis residence, 441 Riddleville Road, in Sandersville and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
