Verna Brooks Waits

Mrs. Verna Brooks Waits, age 92, of Deepstep, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11th in the Deepstep Methodist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Scott Thompson will officiate.

Mrs. Waits was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Sammie E. Brooks and the late Louise Veal Brooks.  She attended school in Deepstep and graduated from Sandersville High School.  Following some years away, she and her late husband Richard Franklin "Sam" Waits returned to Washington County, where Verna worked for both Georgia Kaolin and C.T. Harris Inc.  Mrs. Waits was a longtime active member of the Deepstep Methodist Church.

Survivors are her son Brent Waits and his wife Tammy of St. Simons Island; grandchild, Erin Waits and other extended family.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville.
