Mrs. Verzilia Boatright Turner, age 96, of Warthen, died Saturday, December 4, 2010. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 11:00am at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Warthen. Rev. Tim Powell and Rev. Henry McMichael will officiate.
Mrs. Turner was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Bennie Frank Boatright and the late Susie Smith Boatright. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was loving, thoughtful, and always put others before herself. She was gentle and soft spoken, but had remarkable strength and determination. She was a dedicated teacher obtaining her bachelors and master’s degrees from Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Turner retired from the Washington County School System with over 45 years of service. She always strived to instill in her students the desire to learn and to excel. Mrs. Turner was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her husband Louis E. Turner Jr.
Survivors are her children, Louis E. Turner III of Blairsville and Suella T. Mullis (Don) of Dublin, grandchildren, Renee Deibert of Blairsville, Judd Turner (Shirley) of Valdosta, and Guy Mullis (Katie) of Dublin, great grandchildren, Evans Ferrell of Blairsville, Jessica Mullis and Jackson Mullis of Dublin, nephew Loring Boatright (Jennie) of Deepstep and devoted caregivers Daphene Martin, Lisa Hall, Tonya Dallas and Jennie Mae Wiley.
The family will receive friends after the graveside service on Wednesday.
