Virginia "Jenny" Greenwood

Ms. Virginia “Jenny” Greenwood, age 80, of Kinney Street, Sandersville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023.   A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Frank Hutcheson will officiate.  A private burial will be held in Brownwood Cemetery.   Jenny’s family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday.

Jenny was born and reared in Sandersville, the daughter of the late Cecil Greenwood and the late Louise Turner Greenwood.  She graduated from Washington County High School.   Jenny married the late Aubrey Sheppard early in life and began raising her family.  She was a longtime resident of the Orlando Florida area, where she worked in administration for Universal Studios and for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.  In 2010 she returned to Sandersville to be near family.  Jenny was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church.  She was a lover of animals and had a passion for rescuing cats.  One of her favorite hobbies was going to the movies and watching TV, especially old black and white films.  In addition to her parents, her brother William “Bill” Greenwood predeceases her.

Survivors include her children, Russell Sheppard and his wife Kathy, Trevor Sheppard and his wife Ramona and Cecilia L. Sheppard all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Anna Sheppard of Milledgeville, Ross Sheppard of Savannah, Justin Sheppard, Lauren S. Macke and her husband Brad and Katie Sheppard all of Sandersville; one great granddaughter Caroline Deal and one great-grandson to be; and her sister-in-law Peggy Greenwood, of Kissimmee FL.
