Mr. W. Donald Mixon, age 73, of Sandersville died on Monday evening, August 19, 2013, at his residence. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 22nd, in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Mr. Edward Daniel and Rev. Darell Young will officiate.
Mr. Mixon was a native of Johnson County, the son of the late W. Lynell Mixon and the late Maude Cordry Mixon. He had resided in Sandersville for many years and was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church. Mr. Mixon had been with American Industrial Clays as the head of research and development and was instrumental in the establishment of a kaolin plant in Brazil. He had been employed with Betz Consultants as an Industrial Water Consultant and in the later years was a private consultant. Mr. Mixon served in the Army National Guard.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Sally Padgett Mixon of Sandersville; two daughters, Florence West Mixon Brookins and her husband C. V. of Sandersville and Missy Mixon Kicklighter of Savannah; two sons, Donald Anthony Mixon of Dudley and James Padgett Mixon and his wife Angie of Savannah; grandchildren, Jak Kicklighter, Emma West Mixon, Barton Mixon, Saxan Adams and Tyler Adams; a sister, Joann Evans and her husband Joe of Sandersville; his aunt, Genette Mimbs of Sandersville; and his faithful companions, Britches, Blondie and the late Bear.
The family will be at the residence, 407 North Harris Street in Sandersville.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Christian Life Center, P. O. Box 5057, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
