W. Donald Williams

July 18, 1941 — April 15, 2011

W. Donald Williams, age 69, of Oconee, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 17th at 2:00pm at the Antioch Christian Church in Oconee with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Rev. David Fincher and Rev. Dennis Burgess will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jack Shurling, Alan Congar, Wade Brantley, Emory Sheppard, Bill Snider, Richard Lindsey, Aubrey Wiggins, and Al Alligood.

Mr. Williams was born in Washington County the son of the late William Alton Williams and the late Winfred Bussell Williams. He was retired from the Georgia Kaolin Company as a mechanic and welder after 37 years of service. Mr. Williams was a faithful member of the Antioch Christian Church where he was a church deacon, led Sunday devotionals and was a former choir member. He currently served on the Oconee City Council and served as the former Oconee Fire Chief. Mr. Williams is predeceased by his brother, W.H. Williams and his sister Donna Williams Bailey.

Survivors are his wife of 32 years, Meredith Curry Williams of Oconee, children, Michael Williams of Gray, Andrew Williams of Milledgeville, and Valerie W. Collins (Kelly) of Warthen, Grandchildren, Nicholas Williams, Cullen Collins, and Jasmine Collins, brothers, Edward Williams (Jane) of Warthen, Tony Williams (Betty) and Bobby Williams (Mary) all of Sandersville and David Williams (Regina) of Tennille and his sister Ellen Boatright (Ted) of Tennille.

The family will be at the Williams residence 149 S. Brown St. in Oconee and will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
