Wallace G. Yates

Mr. Wallace G. Yates, age 65, of Tennille, died Thursday, October 31, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverends Fred Morrison, Andy Yates and Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be George Wiggins, Keith Blount, Farris Tompkins, Ronald Hitchcock, Robert Rabun, and Barry Cotten.

Mr. Yates was born in Washington County the son of the late Horace G. Yates and the late Bessie Carey Yates. He was retired from Imerys as a maintenance supervisor after 30 years in the Kaolin Industry. He was a member of the White Oak Methodist Church. Mr. Yates is predeceased by his brothers, Forace Robert Yates and George Yates; and his sisters, Mary Y. Coleman and Lucille Y. Morris.

Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Judy W. Yates of Tennille; children, Pamela Y. Avant (Jimmie Barlow) of Tennille and Chris Yates and his wife Sarah of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Thomas Avant, Dustin Avant and his wife Candace, Justin Avant and his wife Amanda and Cooper Yates; a great-grandson, Matthew Avant; a brother, Arthur Yates and his wife Sandra of Davisboro; and sisters, Margaret Y. Edinfield of Sandersville and Glenda Y. Anderson and her husband Danny of Oconee.

The family will be at the Yates residence on Jacksons Church Road and they will receive friends on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
