Walter Thomas Parker, Sr

Mr. Walter Thomas Parker, Sr., age 83, of 607 Betty Street in Sandersville died Saturday July 17 in a Sandersville Hospital . Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 21 in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery . The Rev. Marlon Lastinger will officiate.



Mr. Parker was a native and life long resident of Washington County , the son of the late Ira Lee Parker and the late Lydia Todd Parker. He was a retired sales person for the Murray Biscuit Company and an Army veteran of World War II serving as a military policeman. Mr. Parker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Mr. Parker was a avid supporter of the Brentwood School for over thirty years.



Survivors are his wife, Sybil Knight Parker of Sandersville, a daughter, Patti Parker Hitchcock and her husband Ronald of Tennille, a son, Walter Thomas Parker Jr. and his wife Sophie of Warthen, four grandchildren, Erin Hitchcock Youmans and her husband Win, Jacob Hitchcock, Karen Parker Rountree and her husband Dan and Walter Thomas Parker III , a great grandson, Asa Youmans , a sister, Sewilla Parker of Warthen, two brothers, Ira Lee Parker Jr. and his wife Sally of Warthen and Bobby Parker and his wife Linda of Tennille.



The family suggests that donations be made to the Brentwood School , P. O. Box 955 , Sandersville , Georgia 31082. The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
