West "Gene" L. Bridges

Mr. West L. “Gene” Bridges of Tennille died Tuesday, August 23, 2016. A memorial gathering celebrating Gene’s life will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Mr. Bridges was born in Laurens County, the son of the late Herbert L. Bridges and the late Clemmie Lillian Lord Bridges. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a former resident of San Antonio Texas where he was a member of the VFW Post 837. Gene spent his career as a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic and welder. He was the former owner and operator of B & B Truck and Tractor Service in Dublin.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Lillie Mae Francis, Mable Thompson and Patsy Carter.

Survivors include: his loving companion and wife of many years, Jerry Jean Shearer Bridges of Tennille; son Westley Scott Bridges and his wife Chrissie of Gray; siblings, Ruth Raffield of Cochran, Marguerite Aycock of Warner Robins, Doris Dixon of Tennille, Mary Rowe of Milledgeville and J.R. Bridges and his wife Carol of Higgston; step children, DeAnna Brown and her husband Pat, Paul Edenfield and his wife Linda and Jimmy Edenfield; grandchildren, Trey Bridges and Heather Black and her husband Jacob; special great granddaughter Lexi Black.
