Mr. Willard G. Cowart, age 83, of Anderson Lane, Sandersville, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 3:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in White Oak Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dewey Henderson and Rev. Tom Tabor will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenny Walker, Danny Walker, Larry Walker, William Dukes, A.J. Poole and Rusty Rhodes.
Mr. Cowart was born and raised in Davisboro, Georgia, the son of the late Samuel L. Cowart and the late Lillian Smith Cowart. He started his working career with his father farming before working for Green Acres Poultry Farm. Later, Willard worked in the Kaolin Industry prior to working for Dixie Heating and Air. Mr. Cowart created Cowart Heating and Air in which he owned and operated until retiring. He was a member of White Oak Methodist Church and loved fishing and hunting. Willard is predeceased by his wife Barbara Ann Hughes Cowart.
Survivors include, his wife, Mary Walker Cowart of Sandersville; sons, Willard Thomas Cowart and his wife Harriett and William Terry Cowart all of Davisboro; grandchildren, Nicole Ann C. Ellis and Heather Elizabeth Cowart; and great grandchildren, Olin Hunter Ellis, Mason Cole Ellis, Jammea Ellisa Morris, Bria Nicole Cowart and Ayden Phillip Cowart.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
