Mr. Willard Royal Rustin, age 93, of Decatur, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Todd Pike, Tommy Freeman, Kyle Lockhart, Chuck Carter, Bob Wilson and John Wilson.
Mr. Rustin was born in Burke County the son of the late John Marvin Rustin and the late Beulah Mobley Rustin. He was a retired educator with the Dekalb County School system and also served as a Lay Minister with the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Mr. Rustin was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife Yvonne Roughton Rustin of Decature, children, W. Roy Rustin of Boca Raton FL., Linda R. Kilbourne of Houston TX., Patricia Helen R. McBride of Atlanta, step children, Kathryn Edwards of Atlanta, and Mary Joyce Freeman of Atlanta, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and sisters, Frances R. Russell of Lakeland FL., and Gladys R. Bremer of Richmond Hill.
Donations may be made to the Sandersville United Methodist Church P.O. Box 611, Sandersville, GA. 31082.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday at the Funeral Home.
