Mr. William Green Sellars, "Billy", age 80, of Sandersville, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby Williford officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Mr. Sellars was a native of Washington County and the son of the late William K. Sellars and the late Annie Dale West Sellars. He was a career US Navy Veteran enlisting in 1954 and retiring in 1983. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Sellars worked as an auto mechanic. He attended Kendall Heights Church of God and was an avid sportsman enjoying both hunting and fishing.
Survivors are: his children, Jimmy W. Sellars and his wife Stephanie of Tennille, and Abbie Dale Sellars and her husband Jack of Ashland, Virginia; grandchildren, Christian Wesley Sellars, Melana Kathryn Sellars, Tabitha Rose Sellars and Jack “Jay” Sellars, Jr.; one great granddaughter, Cassidy Bree Anne Rogers; and his sister, Joan Sellars Smith of Fayetteville.
The family will be at the Sellars residence, 68 Club Forest Drive in Tennille and they will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
