Mr. William Reese "Big Bill" Jackson, Sr., age 80 of Sandersville died Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by family. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, June 10th at 3:00 p.m. at White Oak Church, with burial, in the church Cemetery. Reverends Butch Taylor, Jimmy Napier and John Pirkle will officiate. Chance Jackson, Blake Harris, Lonnie Sanders, Joshua Jackson, Al Alligood, Caleb Lord and Wayne Anderson will serve as pallbearers and the Davisboro Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Jackson's family will receive friends prior to the funeral service at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Jackson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, son of the late Taylor Jackson and the late Mildred Frost Jackson. He was reared on his family farm and began farming at an early age. Early in his career, Bill worked with dairy cattle, swine and row cropping. Later he began his passion, pride and joy, and began hay farming, from which he received numerous awards. He was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was a long-time member of White Oak Church. Bill loved to travel to the mountains and watch westerns. Some of his greatest joy was being with family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his son, William Reese "Little Bill" Jackson Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanette Lord Jackson; children, Lynn J. Harris and her husband Eddie of Riddleville, and Paul R. Jackson and his wife Teresa of Sandersville; his daughter-in-law Terri C. Jackson of Sandersville; his bonus children, Butch Taylor and his wife Tammy of Millen, Tony Taylor and Tammy Hendley and her husband Tim all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Lyndsey H. Sanders (Lonnie), Blake Harris (Eryn), Madison J. Smith (C.J.), Savannah D. Graham (Howard), Joshua R. Jackson and Chance Jackson (Ally); great grandchildren, Olivia Smith, Willow Sanders, Marshall Harris, Mitchell Sanders, Elijah Jackson; and siblings, Sandra Smith of Tennille, Brenda Taylor of Cornelia and Russell Jackson and his wife Doris of Guyton.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Staff of Heritage Inn Nursing Home and Hospice Care.
