Mr. William Thomas Sparks, Sr., age 88, of Vinson Highway in Milledgeville died Wednesday January 21 in the Georgia War Veteran Home following an extended illness. Funeral services will beheld at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 24 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Roy Smith will officiate with burial in the Balerma Baptist Church Cemetery near Warthen.
Mr. Sparks was a native of Washington County, the son of the late John Willie Sparks and the late Frankie Fair Sparks. He was a retired civil service employee with Warner Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Sparks was a member of the Balerma Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the medical corps in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors are his son, William Thomas Sparks, Jr. of Wrightsville, two granddaughters, Tina Sparks and Linda Kay Sparks, a sister Mary Louise Sparks of Martinez, a brother, Joseph Terry “Buddy” Sparks of Milledgeville, friends, Fran Colson Sparks Price of Milledgeville and William Judd of Milledgeville and several nieces and nephews.
May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
