William Grady Taylor, Jr.

Mr. William Grady "Billy" Taylor, Jr., age 84, of Davisboro died on October 28 in the Coliseum Hospital in Macon.

Mr. Taylor was born near Davisboro, Georgia in 1933, to Grady Taylor and Cynthia Cox Taylor. Billy lived most of his life around Davisboro. He served ten years in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Korean Conflict as a flight navigator, flying all over the Middle and Far East. While stationed at Homestead Air Base in Florida, he met and married his first wife of 52 years, Jan Schoedinger. They served deployments in Guam and New York State. Billy returned to civilian life as a farmer - Dairyman and owner of Davisboro Auto Parts. He was elected to the Washington County School Board, was a member of the Davisboro Volunteer Fire Department, a member and Deacon of Davisboro Baptist Church, and 32nd Degree Mason in the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Mary Stewart Taylor and her three daughters, Trina Houseman, Tracy Smith (Charles), and Tonya Callaway all of Madison. He is also survived by his daughters, Cynthia Sarah Rutledge of Milledgeville and Kimberly Taylor Scheel of Davisboro; son, William Grady Taylor III of Davisboro; niece, Judy Adams Pate (Billy) of Davisboro. Grandchildren include Christopher Rutledge of Dallas, Texas, Jessika (Daniel) May of Riddleville, and Sarah (Jason) Powell of Douglasville and a great grandson, Conner Gennocro.

The family will receive guests at the Taylor home on the Harrison-Davisboro Road.  Formal viewing and guest reception will be held at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 30.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 31 in Davisboro Baptist Church with interment in Davisboro City Cemetery. Lunch will follow.  Services will be conducted by Reverend Larry Glover.

Pallbearers will be Jim Starr, Charles Smith, Buddy Mosley, Ray Taylor, Tommy Dukes, Randy Mosley, Mark Cook, Billy Pate, and Gary Dixon. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Davisboro Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be made to Davisboro Baptist Church, P. O. Box 70, Davisboro, Georgia 31018 or the Davisboro Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 159, Davisboro, Georgia 31018.
