William Vernon Tooke, Jr.

Mr. William Vernon Tooke Jr., age 73, of Sandersville, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in an Augusta hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 23 at Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.  Reverend L. T. Logue will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Tipton, Collin Lucas, Michael Lucas, Brandon Odom, William Tipton and Brandon Tipton.

Mr. Tooke was a native of Jefferson County, Georgia, the son of the late William Vernon Tooke, Sr. and the late Rebecca Marsh Tooke.  He was the owner and operator of Sandersville Well Company for forty- four years. He was a member of the National Water Well Drillers Association.  Mr. Tooke was a member and Deacon of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and a member of Gideon's International.

Survivors are: his wife, Mary Tipton Tooke of Sandersville; daughter, Vicki Tooke Odom of Ouiedo, Fl.; step-children, Randall Tipton  and his wife Lavonne of Acworth, Brenda Canup of Smyrna and April Shannon Pulliam and her husband Vic of Tennille;  grandchildren, Kenneth Tipton, Catrina Smith, Collin Nile Lucas, Michael Cody Lucas, Kristin Langston and Brandon Odom; great grandchildren, William Tipton, Brandon Tipton, Victoria Tipton and Soren Lucas;  sister, Joann Curry and her husband Russell of Gray; and a brother, David "Sonny" Tooke of Milledgeville.

The family suggest donations be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 891, Sandersville, Ga. 31082.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.
