William Matthew Young

William Matthew Young, age 62 of Tennille, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kenneth Brantley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00p.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Mr. Young was a life-long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Frank Lewis Young, Sr. and the late Alice Brown Young. He was retired from Thiele Kaolin Company where he was Washington County Mine Superintendent. In his spare time William enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as farming and gardening. He was always a hard worker. William was a member of Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a loving father and Poppy.

Mr. Young is survived by his children, Josh Young (Emmaline) of Oconee, and Kimmy Brooker (Bo) of Statesboro; grandchildren, Aubrey Young, Abe Young, Axel Young and Banks Brooker; and brother, Frank Young, Jr. (Louise) of Sandersville.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Mr. Young’s memory to Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, 154 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, GA 31089.
