Mr. Willie Louis Waller, Jr. “Louie”, age 77 of Washington County, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, Tennille, GA with Elder Kenneth Brantley officiating and burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mt. Gilead in the church sanctuary on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be Tristan Smith, Will Waller, Hoke Waller, Gray Waller, Sam Prince, Vic Felbob, William Brantley and Parker Brantley. Honorary pallbearers will be his former Land Department co-workers Mark Boyd, Bob West, Andy Walden, Andy Logue, David Hooks, Donald Farmer, Jimmy Bailey, and friends Henry Jackson, and Bill Giddens.
Mr. Waller was born at home in Washington County, GA, just outside of Riddleville, to the late Willie Louis Waller, Sr. “Bill” and the late Agnes Inez Adams Waller. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Yvonne, who he affectionately named “Von,” when they began dating. He is also survived by his children Donna (Chris) Smith of Riddleville and Trey (Shannon) Waller of Warthen; grandchildren Tristan (Nicole) Smith of Vidalia, Kirstan Smith of Augusta, Will Waller, Hoke Waller, Gray Waller, and Beth Waller all of Warthen; a sister Bobbie Jean (Don) Gilstrap of Pickens, SC; a sister-in-law Joan (Jimmy) Glover of Riddleville and many nieces and nephews, a special fishing buddy/ dear friend, Sam Prince of Sandersville; and his beloved dogs Prissy and Abby.
Mr. Waller was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman, who found joy in God’s creation. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in the yard. His love for nature turned into a life-long career in forestry. He proudly served his country in US Army during the Vietnam War. He began his career in 1972 as a forester with the Georgia Forestry Commission and worked until July, 1976. He moved back home to Washington County in August, 1976, after accepting a position to develop the forestry program at Thiele. He spent the remainder of his career in the outdoors working as forester with Thiele until retiring in June, 2009. Following retirement, he could often be found tending to his yard, trees, and flowers with his loving wife, fishing with friends and family but most of all he cherished time with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents Willie Louis Waller, Sr. and Agnes Inez Adams Waller and his siblings Billy Louis Waller, Jack Lamar Waller, James Thomas Waller “Jimmy”, Bettie Agnes Waller Adams.
