Wilmer Eugene Newsome, Jr.

Mr. Wilmer Eugene Newsome, Jr., age 81, of Davisboro, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, in Alpharetta. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 17th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Washington County Memorial Gardens . Father David Stringer will officiate.


Mr. Newsome was born in Washington County the son of the late Wilmer E. Newsome, Sr. and the late Eula Mae Woodle Newsome. He was a Graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, an organization in which he remained active with for the remainder of his life. Mr. Newsome was also a graduate of the University School of Pharmacy and worked as a registered pharmacist from which he retired. He loved to hunt and fish and was a loving husband to his wife Martha Ann Willard Newsome who predeceases him.


Survivors are his children, Wilmer E. Newsome III of Flowery Branch and Cecilia Lee Newsome Harrington and her husband Jim of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Nicholas G. Harrington, Juliana Lee Harrington, Titus Newsome and Caroline Newsome; his brother, Cecil G. Newsome of Hobe Sound, FL; and his sister Robin N. Etheridge and her husband Edwin of Sandersville.


The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
